With gondola: Start at Borovets and take the Yastrebets gondola to the upper station. From there, a well-marked trail leads to Musala Hut and then to the summit. This option saves about 1,000 m of climbing and is perfect for a moderate, 2:30h climb.
Without gondola: Begin at Borovets and hike the full trail to Musala Hut and the peak. It’s longer and more challenging (around 6–8 hours round trip), but it lets you fully experience the alpine scenery, pine forests, and mountain streams along the way.
Start your Rila adventure from Borovets and explore the Seven Rila Lakes! A 25–30 minute drive takes you to Panichishte, where you can take the chairlift up to the Rila Lakes Hut or hike the full trail for a more scenic experience. The loop around the seven glacial lakes is easy to moderate, perfect for families, friends, or beginner hikers.
